Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat, has sparked controversy with his recent comments describing Nathuram Godse, the man who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, as a patriot. Rawat clarified that although he didn’t agree with the murder of Gandhi, his reading of the situation suggests that Godse was also a patriot in his opinion. Rawat also stated that Rahul Gandhi, who is related to the great Gandhi, cannot claim to uphold Gandhian principles simply by sharing his name. The former Chief Minister also criticized those in the country who seek to create communal divisions, calling instead for unity across all faiths. Rawat also expressed his admiration for the courage of Indian sports and praised the wrestlers who protested for their cause. He called on the BJP to offer their support to the wrestlers.
