Former U-19 World Cup champion Shreevats Goswami has suggested that India should have Yashasvi Jaiswal open the batting with captain Rohit Sharma during the upcoming Test series against West Indies. Goswami believes that this will give India the ideal right-left combination at the top, and that the two would click well together as they play for the same state side. Goswami suggests that Shubman Gill should then play at No. 3.

The Indian squad for the upcoming two Tests against West Indies has been announced, with no Cheteshwar Pujara included. This has led to speculations over who will play at No. 3, with the two options being Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal. When asked about this, Goswami had an answer that would break convention and provide India’s batting order with a new, effective look.

The Indian team is set to play two Tests against West Indies, beginning on July 12 at Dominica, and the second Test will be played at the Queen’s Park Oval on July 20. While Goswami’s suggestion may or may not be tried out by the Indian team, it does provide an interesting suggestion for the team’s management to consider as it looks to build a winning squad.

It is important that the Indian team, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, bounce back from their poor performances at the World Test Championship final against New Zealand, and that they put on a strong performance against the Windies in this upcoming series. The inclusion of younger and newer players in the squad, such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, provides the team with fresh talent and gives them the chance to experiment with new strategies to rebuild and strengthen the team.

In conclusion, while Goswami’s suggestion of having Yashasvi Jaiswal open the batting with Rohit Sharma may or may not be used by the Indian team, it does provide an interesting new perspective for a team that is looking to regroup and reorganize after a tough loss. With players such as Jaiswal in the squad, the Indian team has a chance to experiment with different batting orders and strategies that could help them come back stronger in future matches.
