Former Sarpanch and Associates Face Charges of Encroachments and Assault in Gurgaon
In a recent development, the former sarpanch of Bajghera village in Gurgaon, along with five of his associates, has been booked for alleged encroachments on three vacant plots in New Palam Vihar near Dwarka Expressway. The accusations also include assaulting the landowners when they objected to the encroachments.
According to the police, the complaint was filed by Maan Chand, one of the plot owners from Hisar. Chand mentioned that he had purchased his plot in New Palam Vihar back in 2019. Similarly, Seema Kharu, Om Prakash Gupta, and Virender Yadav had bought their respective lands in 1996.
Chand stated that he discovered some individuals constructing boundary walls on his plot, as well as on the plots owned by Seema, Om, and Virender, earlier this month. Initially, they hoped to resolve the issue through dialogue without resorting to legal action. However, on October 13, when they opposed the encroachments, the former sarpanch named Bir Singh and his associates allegedly assaulted Chand and Seema Kharu.
Himanshu Gupta, the son of Om Prakash Gupta, revealed that they immediately called the police after the incident occurred. As a result, a case was registered against former sarpanch Bir Singh, Ram Bir, Jitender, Krishan, Deepak, and Pradeep at the Bajghera police station on Saturday. They have been charged under various sections including criminal trespassing, house trespassing, assault on a woman, and criminal conspiracy, among others, as per the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Following the registration of the case, the accused individuals as well as around 100 villagers staged a protest against the Bajghera SHO, accusing him of corruption.
As per Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Shiv Kumar Archan, the accused parties had forcefully erected four walls around the plots, and physically assaulted Seema Kharu, an elderly woman, and other plot owners who opposed their actions. He further added that the police took swift action within the boundaries of the law after the case was registered. However, the accused attempted to exert pressure on the police through a protest, hoping to have their names removed from the case.
This incident sheds light on the alleged encroachments that have become a cause of concern for the plot owners in New Palam Vihar. It remains to be seen how the legal proceedings unfold and whether justice will be served to the affected parties.
