Former Polytechnic Bursar Sentenced to Prison for N500m Fraud in Ekiti State, Nigeria

A former Bursar of Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Mr. Elijah Oladapo, has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in a N500 million fraud case. The conviction was handed down by Hon. Justice A. L. Ogunmoye of the Ekiti State High Court, following a case brought forward by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Oladapo, along with the former Rector, Mrs. Theresa T. Akande, was accused of receiving kickbacks from a contractor working on construction projects at the institution. While Mrs. Akande was discharged and acquitted of some charges, Oladapo was found guilty on multiple counts and sentenced to a total of 7 years in prison. The ICPC has confirmed that Oladapo is currently serving his sentence at a correctional center.
