Former Munster Rugby centre, Dan Goggin, will be heading to French D2 side US Montauban after signing a one-year deal with the club. Goggin announced his departure from Munster in April, stating his desire to seek out a new playing opportunity elsewhere.
Despite making only six appearances for Munster Rugby in the United Rugby Championship this season, the 28-year-old featured regularly for Young Munster in Division 1A of the Energia All-Ireland League. Goggin has scored 10 tries in his 81 Munster appearances since making his debut against Scarlets in September 2016, representing both the Ireland U20s and the Ireland 7s side.
Montauban, a second-level team in France’s professional league system, presents Goggin with a fresh opportunity to gain more playing experience on the field. The new signing is expected to deliver outstanding performances for the team who strive to climb up their league standings.
Goggin’s decision to move to France reflects his determination to enhance his pro-rugby career and develop his skills as a player. The Limerick native will surely take advantage of the new playing opportunity and work hard to make positive strides for the club.
Goggin’s move to Montauban may have come as a surprise to rugby enthusiasts, but his determination and effort are impressive, and we can all expect nothing but the best from the former Munster Rugby centre. We wish him all the best in his latest endeavour in France, and we hope that this new chapter in his rugby career brings him success and fulfillment.
