Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Accuses Maharashtra CM and Ministers of Involvement in Corruption and Misdeeds
In a shocking revelation, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has accused Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other ministers of being involved in corruption and misdeeds. Singh made these allegations in his statement to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to Singh, he had informed Thackeray and other ministers about the misdeeds and malpractices of the then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, and they appeared to be aware of the situation. Singh also claimed that he was pressured by Thackeray and Deshmukh to reinstate suspended police officer Sachin Waze when he was holding the Home portfolio.
Singh further revealed that he had also informed Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar about Deshmukh’s misdeeds in March 2021. He stated that he had raised the issue of malpractices by Deshmukh to ministers Ajit Pawar, Anil Parab, and Jayant Patil as well. Singh mentioned that these senior officials seemed to be aware of the malpractices, although they did not confirm their knowledge in words.
The allegations made by Singh have led to widespread outcry and forced Deshmukh to step down from his position as the Home Minister. He is currently in jail facing charges of money laundering. Singh claims that he had already briefed Thackeray, Pawar, and other ministers about Deshmukh’s malpractices before allegations were made against him.
Regarding the reinstatement of Sachin Waze, Singh alleged that he was pressured by Suraj Chauhan, the personal assistant to Aaditya Thackeray (Shiv Sena minister and son of Uddhav Thackeray) to reinstate Waze. Singh further stated that he had spoken to Aaditya Thackeray, who instructed him to speak to the Chief Minister. Ultimately, Singh says he reinstated Waze as a result of pressure from Thackeray and Deshmukh.
The CBI’s chargesheet includes statements from multiple bar owners who claim that Waze asked them to pay money each month to avoid police action. According to Waze’s statement, Deshmukh demanded the collection of Rs 40 to 50 crore each month from bars. The CBI also relied on the statement of ACP Sanjay Patil, who revealed that Waze had told him about Deshmukh’s demand for money from bars.
These allegations have raised serious questions about the involvement of top government officials in corruption and misuse of power. The case remains under investigation, and it is essential to ascertain the truth and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
