Former Merrimack star Jordan Minor has joined the Virginia basketball team in pursuit of his NCAA Tournament dream. At Merrimack, Minor did it all – from scoring and rebounding to being a team leader, working in the weight room, and assisting with video study. He even took on additional roles outside of basketball, such as working security at football games, keeping statistics for the hockey team, handling video for volleyball matches, and refereeing intramural contests.

Minor’s dedication to the Merrimack community impressed his coach, Joe Gallo, who described him as someone who went all in with the college experience. When Minor graduated and decided to transfer to Virginia for his final season, there were no hard feelings. In fact, Minor continued to support the Merrimack program by lifting with the team and helping to recruit other players.

During his time at Merrimack, Minor achieved success on the court. The team won two regular-season titles in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and secured the conference tournament championship in March. Minor, a 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward, led Merrimack with impressive statistics, averaging 17.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game during his final season. He was a three-time all-conference selection and finished his Warriors career with average stats of 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds.

Unfortunately, circumstances prevented Minor from fulfilling his childhood dream of playing in the NCAA Tournament. In his last season at Merrimack, the team won the conference championship but was still ineligible to participate due to transitioning into Division I and an NCAA rule. Despite the disappointment, Minor has no hard feelings and recognizes the impact of his experience at Merrimack on his development.

Minor’s decision to join Virginia for his final season stemmed from his desire to play on the big stage and experience March Madness. With the university’s history of making NCAA Tournament appearances, Minor saw it as an opportunity to pursue his dream. The coaching staff at Virginia was attracted to Minor’s size, athleticism, offensive rebounding, and finishing abilities.

While he will have to adjust to Virginia’s pack-line defense under head coach Tony Bennett’s system, Minor’s quick feet, athleticism, and aptitude for help defense should facilitate a smooth transition. His superpowers lie in his ability to outrun opponents at his size and his elite offensive rebounding skills.

Minor recognizes the role Merrimack played in his journey and remains grateful for the opportunities the college provided him. He will be rooting for his former team while striving to achieve his NCAA Tournament dream with Virginia. Minor believes that, with the right leadership and mentality, Virginia has the potential to reach the Final Four.

In joining Virginia, Minor hopes to contribute his skills and compete at the highest level of college basketball. He credits Merrimack for shaping him into the player he is today, and he looks forward to making the most of his final season with the Cavaliers.

In summary, Jordan Minor, a former star at Merrimack, has joined the Virginia basketball team in pursuit of his NCAA Tournament dream. Despite a successful career at Merrimack, he was unable to participate in the tournament due to NCAA rules. Minor’s decision to transfer to Virginia was influenced by his desire to play in March Madness and the university’s strong basketball program. He hopes to make a significant impact and help Virginia reach the Final Four.
