Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi to discuss the current political situation in the state and important public issues. However, Chavan denied any discussions regarding seat-sharing for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls among the parties within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. The MVA, composed of the Nationalist Congress Party, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Congress, has yet to decide on a seat-sharing formula for the upcoming elections. Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole has expressed confidence that the seat-sharing talks will be smooth since the primary goal of the MVA is to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that the Shiv Sena and the BJP will contest upcoming elections together in the state. In the 2019 elections, the Shiv Sena won 18 of Maharashtra’s 48 Lok Sabha seats and one seat from Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
