Former Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi asserts honesty while discharging duties

Former Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi, accompanied by her former secretary Theva Neethi Dhas, attended a book release function in Puducherry on Saturday to commemorate her tenure as the titular head of the region. During her address, Bedi highlighted her commitment to integrity in performing her responsibilities.

Bedi stated, Bonafide errors could happen, but one cannot be intentionally wrong. I was intentionally honest in discharging duties, and the court has also upheld my decisions. She credited Team Raj Nivas for implementing various measures, including grievance redressal initiatives, while also addressing attempts to weaken her team.

There was pressure on the Ministry of Home Affairs to shift my secretary (retired IAS officer Theva Neethi Dhas), but I resisted the move. I said (to the Ministry), if you are moving the secretary, move me out also. It was an attempt to weaken the team, Bedi revealed.

In his address, Mr. Dhas credited Bedi for opening the doors of Raj Nivas to all sections of society, making it accessible beyond just the privileged classes. The book, People’s Governor, written by Krithik Kailash, a final year law student at Christ University, Bengaluru, documents Bedi’s various initiatives, such as the rejuvenation of water bodies, the Clean Puducherry campaign, and rural education programs.

The book also covers Bedi’s efforts to address public grievances and her extensive field visits. The event showcased the appreciation and recognition of Bedi’s contributions during her tenure. With her emphasis on honesty and transparency, Bedi leaves behind a legacy that emphasizes the importance of integrity in public service.

As a respected figure, Bedi’s dedication to serving the people of Puducherry continues to inspire and motivate individuals across the nation. Her commitment to implementing positive change and her efforts to make Raj Nivas more accessible showcase her remarkable leadership during her tenure.

The book release function served as a reminder of Bedi’s impact, highlighting the milestones achieved under her guidance. With her intentional honesty and unwavering dedication, Bedi’s legacy remains an inspiration for the future leaders of Puducherry.

In conclusion, the book People’s Governor commemorates Kiran Bedi’s tenure as Lt. Governor, capturing her remarkable initiatives, dedication to public service, and emphasis on integrity. Bedi’s intentional honesty and commitment to transparency have left a lasting impact on the region, making her a revered figure in Puducherry’s history.
