Former India opener, Wasim Jaffer, has recommended a few young cricketers for India’s upcoming tour of West Indies. While speaking to Sportskeeda, Jaffer emphasized the need for India to play fearless cricket, especially in white-ball cricket. He believes that India needs to give chances to young Indian cricketers who have the right attitude and skill to take the team forward.
Jaffer named a few young players who he thinks deserve an opportunity to shine for India in the forthcoming tour. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is known for his exceptional performances in the domestic cricket circuit, was Jaffer’s first pick for both the Test and T20I teams. Rinku Singh, another budding cricketer, impressed many with his finishing abilities in the IPL 2023 season.
Jitesh Sharma is another player whom Jaffer thinks could possibly replace Rishabh Pant, who is currently not a part of the Indian team. Sharma is someone who can bat at number five or six and is an excellent finisher.
Jaffer also mentioned Sanju Samson, who has been consistently performing in the domestic circuit for the past few seasons. Samson has been in and out of the Indian team for a few years, and Jaffer feels that this could be an excellent opportunity for him to prove himself.
India’s tour of West Indies is a crucial one for Indian cricket, and Jaffer wants the team to be well-prepared for it. The youngsters he recommended are all immensely talented, and if given the opportunity, could make a significant impact in the series. With the game changing rapidly, Jaffer feels that India needs to adopt a fearless approach to win trophies. The team’s performance in the upcoming series can be a stepping stone for these players to establish themselves in the Indian team.
