Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Pradeep Shukla has received interim anticipatory bail in the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam case, according to the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. Shukla had been denied bail by a sessions court in May. The trial is being conducted by district and sessions judge Sanjay Shanker Pandey, who also presides over the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court. The NRHM scandal relates to firms being awarded contracts under the scheme without fulfilling required norms. Shukla, along with eight others, was accused by the Enforcement Directorate of illegalities in the acquisition of reverse osmosis (RO) systems for community health centres (CHCs) and primary health centres (PHCs).
