Championship side Plymouth Argyle have appointed former England Under-20 manager Ian Foster as their new head coach. The 47-year-old, who previously played for Liverpool’s academy, had been serving as Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. Pilgrims chairman Simon Hallett praised Foster as the ideal candidate to lead the club forward and highlighted his passion for developing young players and playing attacking football. Foster will be supported by director of football Neil Dewsnip and assistant coach Kevin Nancekivell, who oversaw first-team affairs during the festive period. Plymouth Argyle, currently 18th in the table, are looking to maintain their position in the championship. Foster’s coaching experience, including success with England’s youth sides, as well as his time in Saudi Arabia, is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the club.
