Former Anaheim Ducks Player Nic Kerdiles Killed in Tragic Motorcycle Accident

Nic Kerdiles, a former player for the Anaheim Ducks, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in Nashville, Tennessee. The 29-year-old Orange County native lost his life after colliding with a BMW SUV while riding his Indian Motorcycle. The accident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on September 23 when Kerdiles ran through a stop sign in a residential area.

Kerdiles, who gained additional prominence through his appearance on the reality TV show Chrisley Knows Best with his former fiance Savannah Chrisley, had a promising career ahead of him. In response to his untimely death, Chrisley took to social media, sharing pictures of their moments together and expressing her love for him. She wrote, We loved hard. I can’t wait to ride bikes with you along the beaches of heaven one day.

Born in Lewisville, Texas, and raised in Orange County, California, Kerdiles developed a passion for hockey at a young age. Inspired by a neighbor who played roller hockey, he began his journey in the sport, eventually transitioning from roller hockey to ice hockey. Kerdiles’ commitment and hard work allowed him to progress in the game, despite not being the most skilled player.

After attending Beckman High in Irvine, Kerdiles joined the U.S. national team development program in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He showcased his talent, recording 16 goals and 17 assists in 50 games over two seasons with the program. This caught the attention of the Anaheim Ducks, who selected him in the second round of the 2012 NHL draft.

Kerdiles continued to flourish in his career, playing for the Norfolk Admirals, the Ducks’ American Hockey League affiliate, before their relocation to San Diego. He impressed with his performance and earned a call-up to the Ducks in February 2017, making his NHL debut with a victory over the Boston Bruins. Despite a concussion setback, Kerdiles remained determined and played a total of four NHL games.

His time with the Ducks came to an end when he was traded to the Winnipeg Jets in 2018. Unfortunately, Kerdiles’ hockey career was cut short, and he played his final games for the Manitoba Moose, the Jets’ AHL affiliate, during the 2018-19 season.

The Anaheim Ducks expressed their deep condolences, stating, We’re heartbroken to hear the news about Nic Kerdiles… Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and loved ones.

Nic Kerdiles will be remembered for his passion for the game and the impact he made both on and off the ice. His loss is a tragic reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for caution while riding motorcycles. The hockey community mourns the untimely passing of a talented young player, leaving behind memories of his hard work, determination, and the joy he brought to the sport. Rest in peace, Nic Kerdiles.
