Forks Spartans Prepare for 2B Football Season with Strong Senior Class and New Stadium

Forks, Washington – The Forks Spartans are gearing up for an exciting season of Class 2B football, fueled by a deep and experienced senior class and the recent unveiling of their new stadium. Coach Trevor Highfield is optimistic about the team’s prospects, citing the significant contributions expected from both seasoned seniors and talented freshmen.

With 34 players on their roster, the Spartans boast eight seniors who are poised to make a difference on the field. This is the largest senior class the team has seen, with each senior expected to start on either offense, defense, or both. Highfield expresses his enthusiasm, commenting, To have eight seniors who can step up and contribute is fantastic.

The team’s offseason efforts have also been promising. The Spartans participated in scrimmages against Port Angeles and Sequim, showcasing their skills and solidifying their teamwork. Additionally, they attended the Adna camp, which provided invaluable opportunities to train alongside some of the state’s top 2B teams such as Raymond/South Bend, Toledo, and Tri-Cities Prep.

Offensively, the Spartans plan to open things up this season after employing the single-wing formation in previous years. Senior Landin Davis will take on the role of starting quarterback, providing the team with a stronger passing game. Highfield praises Davis’s athleticism, toughness, and leadership skills. Senior Nate Dahlgren, the team captain and lead ball carrier, is expected to make a significant impact on both offense and defense.

Senior Gunner Rogers, a second-team All-league pick last season, will transition to wide receiver and also contribute as a linebacker/defensive back hybrid. Senior Sloan Tuamau, the reigning state champion wrestler at 220 pounds in the 2B division, will anchor the offensive line and perform as a linebacker. Walker Wheeler and Mike Dunn, both seniors, will contribute on both lines, providing strength and experience.

Junior Brody Lausche will move from offensive lineman to fullback, showcasing his size and agility. Junior DeAnthony Davila, sophomore Landen Olson, and sophomore Noah Foster will all play crucial roles at wide receiver and in the secondary. Additionally, freshman Bubba Hernandez, a talented multi-sport athlete, will showcase his skills in various positions. The team is also excited about the potential impact of twin freshmen, Troy and Tre Martensen, both weighing over 200 pounds.

As the Forks Spartans prepare to compete with the best Class 2B football teams in the state, they have reason to be hopeful and confident. A strong senior class, complemented by talented freshmen, combined with their new Spartan Stadium, promises an exciting season for players and fans alike.
