First female chief agent of USBP San Diego sector appointed by US Border Patrol

Patricia McGurk-Daniel, a seasoned veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol, is set to make history as she takes on the role of the first female chief agent of the USBP San Diego Sector office. This significant appointment was announced by the federal agency on Thursday. With 24 years of experience under her belt, McGurk-Daniel is prepared to tackle the challenges and complexities of securing the California corridor and beyond.

In her new role, McGurk-Daniel will lead the USBP San Diego Sector office, where she aims to foster collaboration and a unified front against transnational criminal organizations. Recognizing the intricate nature of the San Diego border environment, she emphasizes the importance of partnerships with various agencies at the local, state, federal, tribal, and even foreign levels in ensuring the security of this region.

Having joined the agency in 1999 after graduating from the U.S. Border Patrol Academy, McGurk-Daniel has served in multiple sectors and held various key positions throughout her career. Her experience spans assignments in the El Centro, El Paso, San Diego, and Spokane sectors, as well as roles at the USBP Academy, U.S. Border Patrol headquarters, Customs and Border Protection Office of Intelligence, and the CBP Office of the Commissioner. Notably, she has also held leadership positions such as the CBP Migration Crisis Action Team commander, deputy chief patrol agent of the San Diego Sector, and chief patrol agent of the USBP Yuma Sector.

In addition to her extensive professional background, McGurk-Daniel holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix. She is also a graduate of the CBP Leadership Institute and the Department of Homeland Security Executive Capstone Program.

This selection of McGurk-Daniel as the first female chief agent of the USBP San Diego Sector marks a significant milestone for the agency.
