In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, two simultaneous liver transplant surgeries were conducted for the first time ever in Choithram Hospital, setting a new milestone in the medical industry. A female donor successfully donated part of her liver to her 55-year-old husband while another 55-year-old woman donated part of her liver to her 27-year-old son. He further added that the success rate of liver transplant surgery is generally 95% in India, showing the potential for patients to eventually return to a normal life after the complicated procedure. The primary causes of liver failure that warrant a liver transplant in India are obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome and alcohol abuse.
