NEW DELHI: In her seventh consecutive Union Budget for 2024-25, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman outlined nine key priorities aimed at fostering economic growth and creating ample opportunities. These priorities encompass productivity, employment, social justice, urban development, energy security, infrastructure, innovation, and reforms.
Sitharaman announced that the government is conducting a thorough review of research to develop seeds that are resilient to climate change. Over the next two years, the government plans to introduce one crore farmers to natural farming practices.
The finance minister also stated that the government will promote large-scale vegetable production clusters to boost output. Additionally, 109 new high-yielding, climate-resilient seeds for 32 field and horticulture crops will be released.
Sitharaman noted that the implementation of various schemes announced in the interim budget in February is still ongoing.
