Fights Erupt at Bengals-Packers Practice as Elgotn Jenkins Throws Swings at Jermaine Pratt and D.J. Reader
Multiple fights broke out during a joint practice session between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday. The intense clashes involved star guard Elgotn Jenkins of the Packers, who found himself in the middle of two skirmishes.
In a video shared by Kyle Smith, Jenkins can be seen getting into a heated altercation with Bengals’ linebacker Jermaine Pratt. This sparked a quick response from players on both teams, swiftly intervening to break up the brawl.
According to Tom Silverstein, the confrontation began when Jenkins dropped Pratt on a screen play. Angered by the play, Pratt approached Jenkins and threw a punch in retaliation, escalating the situation further.
However, that wasn’t the end of the clashes for Jenkins. Silverstein later reported that the Packers’ guard also got into a scuffle with Bengals’ standout D.J. Reader, throwing a swing at the veteran defensive tackle. Head coach Matt LaFleur promptly removed Jenkins from the drill to diffuse the tension.
In response to the incident, Reader took to Twitter, deeming Jenkins as Just a guy or JAG, which is a common football term used to describe an average player.
While the Packers and the Bengals are not set to face each other in the 2023 regular season, they will meet in a preseason game this Friday. Fans won’t have to wait long to witness how the potential drama from the intense practice unfolds.
