FIFA has announced plans to establish a £200 million fund aimed at supporting the professionalization of women’s football. The initiative will also see clubs receive payments when a player signs their first professional contract before the age of 23, as well as when a player makes their international debut. As FIFA aims to promote gender equality and fair play, this funding increase is expected to contribute to the growth and popularity of women’s football. The final decision on these proposals will be made by the FIFA Council next year, with the new system set to commence in 2026.
