War – Day 659: Russians Attack Kyiv; Ukrainians Retreat?
War in Ukraine enters its 659th day with intense fighting in Avdeyevka, Kupyansk, Bakhmut, and Kherson. In a shocking turn of events, Russia launched another attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. In the midst of these clashes, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made an unannounced visit to Norway and revealed positive signals regarding further support for his country during his recent visit to the United States.
Zelensky expressed hope that the US Congress would soon take a crucial decision to extend vital support to Ukraine. Meanwhile, authorities in the Kyiv region reported no casualties or damage to critical infrastructure following the missile attack carried out by Russia in the afternoon. The air force had previously issued an alert regarding the missile threat, and the sounds of explosions were heard near the Ukrainian capital earlier today, as reported by a Reuters correspondent.
Governor Ruslan Kravchenko of the Kyiv region, updated via the Telegram messaging app, stated, The air alert signal has been issued four times today. The enemy is not stopping and is attacking the Kyiv region with rockets. These developments have further heightened tensions in the area, underscoring the urgent need for assistance and international support.
In addition, videos captured by Ukrainian soldiers have emerged online, depicting the harrowing process of a small group of surviving soldiers retreating from the left bank of the Dnieper River. The left bank has unfortunately become a mass grave for many brave servicemen. Notably, these soldiers cannot hide their joy as they express gratitude to the rescuers who arrived via motorboat to evacuate them. They eagerly anticipate returning to the safety of the right bank, their home.
Tragically, overnight, a massive drone attack launched by Russia wreaked havoc in Odessa, resulting in the hospitalization of 12 people, including three children. This latest act of aggression serves as a stark reminder of the grave consequences and continued escalation of the conflict.
As the conflict rages on, it is crucial for the international community to remain engaged and offer support to Ukraine. The Ukrainian government, its people, and the courageous soldiers on the frontlines need assistance to withstand these attacks and protect their homeland. The situation remains dire, and urgent action is required to prevent further loss of life and ensure the safety and security of Ukraine.
The eyes of the world remain on this ongoing conflict, hoping for a resolution that will restore peace and stability to the region. It is imperative that the international community stands together to condemn these acts of aggression and provide the necessary support to Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty and self-determination.
