Haitian gang leader Vitel’Homme Innocent has been added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and killing of Americans. The FBI has charged Innocent with conspiracy to commit hostage-taking and hostage-taking for his role in the armed kidnapping of 16 American missionaries in Haiti in the fall of 2021. The individuals were held captive for 61 days before managing to escape.
According to the indictment, Innocent is the leader of the Kraze Barye gang, which collaborated with 400 Mawozo in the kidnapping. Innocent is also charged with an armed hostage-taking in Haiti in October 2022, during which two Americans were involved. One of the Americans was killed, and the other was held hostage until ransom payments were made.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office expressed hope that Innocent would be brought to justice with his addition to the top ten list. The FBI is offering a $2,000,000 reward for information leading to Innocent’s arrest and/or conviction.
Innocent is believed to be in Haiti but has connections throughout the Caribbean. The international community is urged to provide any information that can help in his arrest.
