Fastest Indian Athlete Dutee Chand Diagnosed with Testicular Cancer, Faces Sports Quit
Indian sprinter Dutee Chand, known as the country’s fastest woman athlete, has recently revealed that she has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. The diagnosis came as a shock to Chand, who was advised to quit sports by her doctor after being diagnosed with Stage 1 cancer in November 2021.

Dr. Satpathy advised Chand to quit sports as continuing would potentially exacerbate her condition.
Chand suspects that her testosterone hormone imbalance might be linked to her cancer diagnosis. As the groin pain gradually intensified over time, doctors initially believed it to be a regular injury. However, Dr. Satpathy warned Chand that if the pain persisted, it could indicate a potential cancerous attack.
At present, Chand has not undergone any follow-up cancer testing since 2021. She did experience some relief from the pain after taking medications for about 15-20 days following her initial diagnosis. But her situation took a turn when she provided a sample to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) and tested positive for banned substances.
This latest setback adds to the challenges faced by the 27-year-old athlete, who was previously banned for four years due to doping violations. Chand’s dreams of competing in the Tokyo Olympics were shattered, and now her battle with testicular cancer adds further uncertainty to her future in sports.
