Family Demands Full Video of Man Killed by Police at Atlanta Restaurant

The family of Nygil Cullins, a 22-year-old man who was shot and killed by Atlanta police at a popular Buckhead restaurant, is demanding to see the full video of his death, which occurred over a year ago. The incident took place in May 2022 at Fogo De Chão when Cullins, a former employee, allegedly shot a security guard. In response, an APD officer shot and killed Cullins near the front of the restaurant.

Cullins’ family and friends, along with the Atlanta NAACP, staged a protest outside of APD headquarters to express their frustration at the lack of transparency in the case. They are urging for the release of the full video footage to shed light on what really happened that day.

Atlanta police have stated that they will not release the video until the investigation is complete. Cullins’ mother, Mya Cullins, insists that her son’s name needs to be cleared and justice needs to be served. She expressed her disappointment in the lack of answers provided by the police thus far.

The family and supporters of Cullins have raised concerns that there may be more to the story and are calling for full transparency. The president of the Atlanta NAACP, Gerald Griggs, highlighted that Cullins was in a state of mental health distress when he was shot, and even after being injured, he was allegedly shot several more times.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Cullins was shot by the police after he had fired at them, injuring an unarmed security guard. However, the family maintains that they need to see the full video to get a complete understanding of what actually transpired.

This incident has sparked significant controversy and raised questions about police conduct and the use of force. It has also led to calls for reform and greater transparency in the Atlanta Police Department. As the investigation continues, the Cullins family and their supporters are determined to seek answers and ensure that justice is served in this case.

The demand for the release of the full video footage underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in cases involving police shootings. It serves as a reminder of the need for thorough investigations and the sharing of information with the public to promote trust and ensure that all parties involved receive a fair and just outcome.
