Experts Push for Pro-active Policy Against Cybercrime
The need for a pro-active cybersecurity policy at the international level has been emphasized by Florian Müller, a Member of Parliament from Germany, who believes India, with its flourishing IT sector, is best placed to lead in this field. Speaking at a panel discussion on cybersecurity, Müller called for convergence on the issue of national security and an agreement on what is allowed and what needs to be banned in cyberspace. He urged the need to decentralize digitization in cyberspace to prevent it from becoming risky and emphasized building resilience at all levels. Experts at the event point to the need to raise awareness of cybersecurity issues among the public and the importance of ethical boundaries between governments and citizens’ right to privacy to prevent cybercrime.
