Rescue efforts for the missing crew of the submersible that disappeared during an expedition to the wreck of the Titanic have taken a bleak turn. David Mearns, a rescue expert, suggested that the recent discovery of a debris field indicates that there have been no survivors. Mearns, who is friends with two of the crew on board the submersible, claimed that an implosion was most likely responsible for the vessel’s destruction. He added that anyone onboard would have died instantly. The US Coast Guard made the announcement on Twitter, adding that the debris was being evaluated to determine if it was connected to the missing Titan.
