Disability Assessor – Part-time or Full-time Permanent Position in Exeter, Salary of GBP35,000
Exeter, UK – Are you an experienced caregiver looking for a new challenge? A position as a Disability Assessor may be the opportunity you’ve been searching for. The role, based in Exeter, offers a salary of GBP35,000 per year and can be either part-time or full-time.
We are seeking Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Paramedics who are passionate about delivering high-quality care. In this role, you will have the chance to use your clinical expertise in a new way, while working within a supportive team environment.
As a Disability Assessor, you will be responsible for assessing individuals with a range of physical and/or mental health disabilities. This can be done in person or over the phone as part of their claim for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) scheme. Building a rapport with people who have diverse health conditions, including physical, sensory, mental health, and cognitive issues, will be a key aspect of the role.
Using your clinical experience and/or conducting physical assessments, you will determine the severity of the claimants’ conditions and assess their limitations in daily activities. It will be important to interpret medical evidence accurately and comprehensively report your findings on the presented conditions. This information will support the decision-making process for the PIP claim.
One of the benefits of this role is the office hours working pattern, Monday to Friday, with no weekends, nights, or long days required. Additionally, flexible and part-time opportunities are available after training completion. You will have the option for home-based/hybrid working as well.
Continuous CPD (Continuing Professional Development) support will be provided, along with reimbursement of your annual HCPC/NMC (Health and Care Professions Council/Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration fee. To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Nurse, Physiotherapist, Paramedic, or Occupational Therapist qualification. A minimum of 12 months of post-registration clinical experience is required, along with full registration with NMC/HCPC and no restrictions on your pin. IT competency and excellent written and spoken communication skills are also essential, as are empathy and active listening skills.
If you don’t have previous experience as a Disability Assessor, don’t worry. An excellent and in-depth training masterclass will be provided.
