While the digital education market has experienced significant growth, catering to the learning needs of office workers, there remains a gap for frontline workers who make up a substantial portion of the global workforce. Addressing this gap, Excuela, a mobile education system, has secured a $400,000 investment from BID with the aim of expanding its reach and improving workplace productivity.

Excuela’s innovative mobile education system is specifically designed for low-bandwidth, basic smartphones commonly used by frontline workers. It prioritizes interactive and error-based learning methods to ensure active cognitive engagement. The app combines short, Duolingo-style animations with a question-driven approach, tailored to the specific context of each organization.

To ensure the courses are relevant and practical, Excuela’s team comprises educators, sociologists, and content creators who translate complex subjects into accessible content. This approach has resulted in impressive course completion rates, with slightly over 86% of learners successfully finishing the courses, in stark contrast to the high abandonment rates associated with traditional learning methods.

With the recent funding injection, Excuela has set ambitious goals for the future. The startup plans to triple its billing by 2024 and further integrate artificial intelligence to develop behavior-based courses. Moreover, Excuela aims to expand its commercial presence in key markets such as Mexico, Colombia, and Spain, where it recently emerged victorious in the Spain LatAm Scale Up Program. Partnering with BID’s blockchain network will enable Excuela to issue immutable certificates, enhancing job prospects for base-of-the-pyramid workers.

Excuela’s journey represents a profound understanding of the educational requirements of the majority of the global workforce. By aligning technological innovation with practical and impactful learning approaches, the startup is setting a new standard for workplace education. Its focus on inclusivity, engagement, and tangible improvements in productivity positions it as the Duolingo of productivity.

By delivering practical and accessible learning experiences, Excuela is revolutionizing workplace learning and closing the gap that exists for frontline workers. With the support of BID’s investment, Excuela is poised to expand its reach, enhance workplace productivity, and provide base-of-the-pyramid workers with improved job prospects. The startup’s commitment to inclusivity and engagement ensures that even those with limited resources can access valuable educational opportunities, ultimately contributing to a better-equipped global workforce.
