Former boxing champion Harry Garside was spotted enjoying a date with his new girlfriend in Bondi while his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Ruscoe, who was charged with assaulting him last month, looked on. The 2018 Commonwealth Games lightweight champion was seen sitting alone in a cafe on Campbell Parade in Bondi, working on his laptop. Meanwhile, Ruscoe was nearby chatting with a friend, and the pair watched Garside before Ruscoe left upon noticing a photographer.

Shortly after Ruscoe’s departure, Garside was joined by his new girlfriend for a coffee. The identity of his new partner remains unknown. Garside, who took a break from professional boxing, has been providing color commentary for fights on Fox Sports. This sighting comes after the news broke that Ruscoe was arrested and charged with assault, following her previous accusations against Garside.

Last month, Daily Mail Australia reported that Ruscoe was charged with domestic violence-related offenses including common assault and stalking. These charges came after Garside himself faced charges of common assault following an investigation into domestic violence claims made by Ruscoe. However, all charges against Garside were dropped in June, and footage and audio recordings obtained by Daily Mail Australia provided evidence of his innocence.

The legal case initially posed a threat to Garside’s potential place in Australia’s boxing squad for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. However, with the charges against him dropped, he now appears to be clear to defend the bronze medal he won in Tokyo in 2021. Nonetheless, a breach of contract claim by Garside’s former manager, Peter Mitrevski Jnr, could potentially jeopardize his Olympic aspirations. Mitrevski claims that they are owed a settlement after the termination of their management deal.

In response to the charges against Ruscoe, her lawyer stated that she would plead not guilty in court. The case is scheduled to return to court on August 30. Garside, on the other hand, is seeking resolution with his former manager to resolve the breach of contract claim.

The president of Boxing Australia, Phil Goodes, confirmed that Garside would need to provide evidence of the resolution of his contractual issues to fight at the Olympic qualifiers. Boxing Australia has requested clearance prior to any amateur competition.

Despite the ups and downs in Garside’s personal and professional life, he remains focused on his boxing career. With the charges dropped and his eye on defending his bronze medal in the 2024 Olympics, Garside continues to work towards his goals in the ring.
