A new Ethanol Bio-Refinery plant being built by BPCL in Bargarh district, India, will contribute to green growth and sustainable development when completed, says Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The plant will convert farmers’ waste into three million litres of grade ethanol per year, which will be blended with petrol, he said. Pradhan visited the plant recently and urged officials to complete construction by December so production can begin. The Rs100 crore ($13.6m) plant will increase indigenous production of green fuel, Pradhan added.
Pradhan also attended the inauguration of a new indoor stadium in Bolangir, built at a cost of Rs9.9 crore, supported by GAIL India Ltd under its CSR initiatives. The facility aims to enhance sporting facilities and promote rural sports talent who may have limited access to sports equipment and infrastructure. The minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri also took part in the event, alongside Tukuni Sahu, minister of Commerce, Transport & Water Resources, and Bolangir MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo.
