Sweden-headquartered royalty-free soundtrack provider, Epidemic Sound, has unveiled its latest offering, ‘Soundmatch,’ an AI-powered music discovery tool for videos. Soundmatch analyzes the visual frames within a creator’s video using artificial intelligence and data insights derived from over two billion daily views of YouTube videos featuring Epidemic Sound music. By doing so, the tool generates a curated list of tracks that complement each visual scene, eliminating the need for creators to manually search for suitable music. The launch of Soundmatch comes as Epidemic Sound estimates that the creator economy could nearly double in size by 2027, with AI poised to support this growth.

Epidemic Sound believes that AI has the potential to increase both content creation and consumption tenfold. With Soundmatch, creators can browse recommended tracks on the Epidemic Sound platform and seamlessly integrate them into their workflow, forming an intuitive connection between video and sound. Greg Elkehag Funk, Chief Product Officer at Epidemic Sound, envisions a fully immersive creator experience where AI-powered tools make it effortless for creators to add music and sound effects to their content.

In 2020, Epidemic Sound launched two AI-powered tools, ‘Music Recommender’ and ‘More of what you like,’ followed by the release of the audio-based search tool ‘Epidemic Audio Reference (EAR)’ and an audio-visual preview tool called ‘Sync to Video.’ The company also rolled out an updated search engine and added 5,000 tracks tailored to customer needs. Soundmatch is the latest addition to Epidemic Sound’s AI-powered arsenal.

Despite the enthusiasm for AI in the creative industry, Epidemic Sound emphasizes the need for responsible and ethical development. While their current AI experts focus on meeting the technical needs of content creators, the company’s commitment to empowering artists and content creators remains steadfast. Epidemic Sound fully owns the world’s largest catalog of restriction-free, high-quality, stem-based tracks and possesses unparalleled data insights on the performance of its music online.

Since its inception in 2009, Epidemic Sound has expanded its operations to major cities worldwide, including Stockholm, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, and Amsterdam. Backed by prominent investors such as EQT, Blackstone, Creandum, Atwater Capital, Alecta, AMF, and TIN Fonder, Epidemic Sound is well-positioned to build a system that holistically supports artists and content creators while leveraging the capabilities of AI.

As the creator economy continues to thrive, AI-powered tools like Soundmatch are expected to play a crucial role in streamlining the content creation process and providing creators with the technical means to enhance their videos with high-quality music. With Epidemic Sound at the forefront of innovation in the creator community, the future looks promising for artists and content creators seeking to harness the power of AI in their work.
