Enugu Police Thwart Kidnapping Operation, Rescue Victim, and Retrieve Stolen Vehicle
Enugu State, Nigeria – In a groundbreaking operation, the Enugu State Police Command successfully neutralized two suspected kidnappers, rescued a male kidnap victim, and recovered a stolen black Lexus 350 Jeep. The commendable mission took place on the outskirts of Enugu metropolis.
Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Olasoji Akinbayo, specialized police operatives swiftly carried out the operation on August 20th at around 8:00 pm in Centenary Layout, along the Enugu-Port-Harcourt Expressway. Drawing their forces from the NPF Special Forces, Awkunanaw Police Division, and tactical teams, the operation was executed with precision.
According to DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, the mission was undertaken in response to a distress call regarding the kidnapping of an individual along Agbani Road, Enugu. As part of the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu’s renewed crime-fighting strategy, the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of the police force in tackling criminal activities.
During the operation, the police engaged in a gunfight with the kidnappers, resulting in the neutralization of one of the criminals identified as ‘Baron’. The individual was fatally shot at the scene, while the remaining culprits managed to escape with various degrees of gunshot wounds. Undeterred, the police initiated a manhunt for the fleeing perpetrators.
Adding to their triumph, the officers recovered the lifeless body of the second neutralized suspect, known as Chukwunonso, or ‘Nolly’. The police discovered the body in a forest where the shootout occurred on the morning of August 21st. Both criminals had been on the command’s watch-list due to their involvement in notorious activities.
