Enrique Gil, also known as Quen, is set to make a comeback in the entertainment industry after a hiatus, with eight movie offers already on the table. His manager, Ranvel Rufino, revealed that they are looking to take on new challenges and move away from the romance and rom-com genres that Gil is known for.
Rufino shared that Gil has committed to three movies, two of which will be filmed this year, including his recently announced comeback film titled I Am Not Big Bird. This male adventure comedy, set in Thailand during the 2000s, will showcase Gil in a refreshing and unconventional role. He will play the character of Luis Carpio, a 30-year-old inexperienced man, as well as the role of Big Bird, a Thai porn star.
Apart from films, Gil is also set to work on a new series with ABS-CBN next year. Rufino expressed excitement about the upcoming projects, describing them as not the normal series and hinting at the exciting challenges that lie ahead for Gil.
Gil’s decision to return to the industry came after contemplating a quieter life away from the spotlight. However, he realized the importance of leaving a legacy and decided to come back stronger than ever. With his talent not limited to acting, Gil has also gained recognition as a dancer and singer, earning the title King of the Gil and selling out the Araneta Coliseum for his solo dance concert in 2013.
Rufino, who took over as Gil’s manager in January, emphasized the importance of working on new and challenging projects. He also expressed their openness to collaborating with the best talents in the industry, highlighting the need for exciting and unconventional content.
In addition to their entertainment ventures, Gil and Rufino have recently established Make-a-Break Productions, which aims to bring unique and wild and crazy content to audiences. They have also partnered with Ticket2Me, where Gil has been appointed as the chief marketing officer. Together, they plan to promote projects such as Manila Madness, a celebrity basketball tournament, and Madness Manila, an EDM festival.
Despite his break from the limelight, Gil’s return promises to be filled with exciting and diverse projects. He is ready to embrace new challenges and offer his fans a side of him they have yet to see. With his talent and versatility, it’s clear that Enrique Gil’s rebranding is more than just a fresh start—it’s an opportunity to break boundaries and explore new horizons in the entertainment industry.
