Women’s Collective Ireland – Donegal (WCI) and Lifeline Inishowen are collaborating to host a workshop for the One Million Stars project, aimed at ending gender-based violence. This workshop, which will be held on November 30 from 7-9 pm at the Carndonagh Lifeline Office, presents an opportunity for individuals to learn the art of weaving stars while also providing a safe platform to discuss domestic and gender-based violence.

The One Million Stars project is an awareness-raising initiative that strives to eradicate violence against women and girls, ultimately creating a future that is free from violence for everyone. By weaving each eight-point star, participants symbolize light, hope, and unity against violence, representing the project’s core values of fostering healthy relationships.

The goal of the project is to recruit individuals in Ireland to weave One Million Stars by the year 2032, contributing to the global target of One billion stars. Participation in this project is free; however, spaces are limited. Those interested in joining can sign up to attend by either registering online or by texting WCI Donegal at 085-8638419.

The Women’s Collective Ireland, a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to promoting women’s rights and equality, has teamed up with Lifeline, a non-profit organization that offers support services to those affected by domestic abuse, to raise awareness and provide a platform for meaningful discussions about ending gender-based violence.

Weaving stars not only serves as a mindful and creative activity but also acts as a powerful symbol against violence. The One Million Stars project encapsulates the notion of spreading light and hope, fostering global solidarity. By working together, individuals across Ireland can contribute to the movement to end gender-based violence and create a safer world for all.

Through this workshop, WCI and Lifeline aim to engage the community, empowering them to be agents of change. The event provides a space for individuals to learn the skill of star weaving and engage in open conversations about the profound impact of domestic violence. By raising awareness and fostering dialogue, the workshop serves as a catalyst for change and a step towards building a violence-free society.

To support the cause and join the One Million Stars project, individuals are encouraged to attend the workshop and become Star Weavers. By weaving stars, participants contribute to the overall goal of one million stars in Ireland and help make a global impact. Together, we can create a future where violence against women and girls becomes a thing of the past, and love and equality flourish.
