Emergency workers have been tirelessly searching for survivors in the aftermath of a fatal train collision in Balasore, Odisha, which left at least 238 people dead and over 900 injured. Nine teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), comprising over 300 rescuers, have been working with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other agencies to conduct search and rescue operations. Additional doctors, mobile health teams, and forensic medicine specialists have been mobilized to aid in the operation. The Indian Army has provided its support in evacuating and treating injured citizens. Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured the public that a detailed high-level inquiry will be conducted to determine the cause of the accident, and that the rail safety commissioner will conduct an independent inquiry.
