South African flyhalf Elton Jantjies has received a call-up to the Rugby Championship training squad after a spate of injuries among the Springboks flyhalves. The 32-year-old is currently serving as injury cover for Handre Pollard and Damian Willemse, both of whom are currently undergoing rehabilitation. Jantjies, who played his last Test against Australia in August last year, had previously fallen out of the World Cup picture due to his battle with injuries, poor form and off-field scandals. Head coach Jacques Nienaber referred to Jantjies as probably our fourth choice flyhalf, adding that it was fortuitous for the squad to have a player like him as a fourth choice. South Africa will face Australia on 8 July in their first Test of the year.
