Elon Musk Reacts to Tesla’s Role in Star-Studded Netflix Thriller
Elon Musk, the renowned entrepreneur and founder of Tesla, has responded to Netflix’s use of Teslas in the streaming giant’s latest movie, Leave the World Behind. The highly-anticipated apocalyptic thriller, starring Ethan Hawke and Julia Roberts, has caused a stir with one particular scene catching the attention of Elon and viewers alike.
In this scene, Ethan, Julia, and their children find themselves under attack as a fleet of driverless Teslas chase them down an abandoned highway, ultimately resulting in a chaotic crash. Netflix shared a video of this intense moment on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. Elon wasted no time in reacting, taking to his own Twitter account and tweeting, Teslas can charge from solar panels even if the world goes fully Mad Max and there is no more gasoline!
The billionaire’s tweet quickly gained momentum, with online users echoing his sentiment. One person humorously stated on X, Best thing about LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND is [it] triggered Elon. Even Sam Esmail, the director of Leave the World Behind, joined in on the conversation, resharing Elon’s tweet and adding, My movie LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND is now streaming on Netflix.
Leave the World Behind centers around a family whose luxurious retreat in Long Island is abruptly disrupted by a nationwide blackout. As they navigate this new threat, they must also contend with the presence of two strangers who may or may not pose an additional danger themselves.
Interestingly, the film contains several references to the popular TV show Friends, a fact that Julia Roberts touched upon in an interview with Metro.co.uk. Having made a memorable cameo on the show in 1996, Julia commented, It wasn’t intentional! But it was a great device that Sam [Esmail] wrote when he adapted the book. It just shows that we all have something in culture that comforts us and makes us feel good.
