However, Zuckerberg, the head of Meta, expressed doubts about the platform’s reliability and suggested using a more trustworthy alternative to raise money for charity. Despite the ongoing banter, it is unclear whether the fight will actually take place.
The idea of a showdown between Musk and Zuckerberg first emerged in June, and since then, both have been goading each other into a mixed martial arts cage fight. Musk proposed holding the fight at the Las Vegas Octagon, a popular venue for MMA championships.
The banter between the two tech giants continued over the weekend, with Musk declaring that all proceeds from the fight would go to charity for veterans. In response, Zuckerberg questioned whether X, Musk’s social media platform, had a wide enough reach to generate substantial funds. He also questioned the seriousness of Musk’s intentions for the fight, suggesting an August 26th date and commenting that he was prepared to fight but had not received confirmation from Musk.
This exchange between Musk and Zuckerberg is just the latest in a string of clashes between the two tech giants. Over the years, they have disagreed on various topics, including politics and artificial intelligence. Most recently, Meta launched a Twitter-like platform called Threads, which quickly attracted 120 million users.
