An electrician from Hadapsar was arrested on Friday night for making threat calls to the state police control room, stating bombs were planted at Shivajinagar, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Pune railway stations, besides locations in Mumbai.
A constable posted with the Pune police control room lodged a complaint with the Bund Garden police station.
Senior inspector Sandipan Pawar of the Bund Garden police revealed that the electrician, Pravin Pandit Yeshi (36), claimed bombs were planted at multiple locations due to feeling alone and depressed as his family had left him a few days ago. The threat calls prompted police teams to rush to the specified spots and conduct anti-sabotage checks.
Pandit Yeshi’s actions caused panic and wasted valuable police resources in ensuring the safety of the public. The authorities have taken this incident very seriously and are investigating the matter further to determine the appropriate legal action.
