iCreate, an innovation-based startup incubator located near Ahmedabad, India has launched the third edition of its electric vehicle innovation challenge called EVangelise 23. The challenge aims to identify and support startups who can provide indigenous solutions to real-life challenges in the EV ecosystem by developing EV components for four-wheelers, heavy-duty mining, and construction vehicles. This year’s focus is on components for mining trucks, earthmovers, and crawler drill machines. According to Avinash Punekar, CEO of iCreate, the challenge seeks to nurture startups capable of solving the real-world challenges of the EV industry. The state-government-supported startup incubator will assist the selected startups in developing cutting-edge technology for the EV industry, driving growth, and innovation in the sector.

The EVangelise 23 challenge is geared towards bridging the gap in the electric vehicle market in India by nurturing startups with innovative solutions. By providing indigenous components for four-wheelers, mining, and construction vehicles, startups can leverage the challenge to drive research and development focusing on EVs. The electric vehicle innovation challenge was launched to assist India’s transition to electric mobility by nurturing a strong startup ecosystem in the sector. India has set an ambitious target of achieving 30% electric vehicle penetration by 2030. Currently, the EV component industry in India heavily depends on imports, and the challenge is aimed at creating a thriving domestic EV component industry.

iCreate has been instrumental in supporting startups in innovating and solving real-life challenges in various sectors, including agriculture, water conservation, and renewable energy in the state of Gujarat. By nurturing startups, iCreate has created a niche in the innovation space, which has seen the incubator be recognized by the Indian government as a model incubator for the nation.

The focus on developing components for mining, earthmovers and crawler drill machines is a vital area as the heavy machinery used in mining and construction contributes significantly to pollution. Developing indigenous EV components for such vehicles will not only reduce pollution but also reduce operating costs for mining companies.

The EVangelise 23 challenge is a great opportunity for startups interested in developing innovative solutions for the EV industry. It is an opportunity for them to leverage the expertise and support of iCreate, their partners, and the government of Gujarat to develop cutting-edge technology that will shape the future of the EV industry in India.

In conclusion, iCreate has launched the third edition of its electric vehicle innovation challenge, EVangelise 23, focused on supporting startups that can solve real-life challenges of the EV ecosystem. The current edition will focus on identifying startups that can develop EV components for four-wheelers, mining trucks and other heavy-duty construction vehicles. The challenge will assist in driving research and development and the growth of the EV component industry in India.
