New Delhi, Mar 8 – Days before the much-anticipated announcement of the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Election Commission is gearing up by convening a crucial meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs to assess security preparedness for the democratic exercise.
Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla is set to engage in discussions with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and fellow Election Commissioner Arun Goel regarding the strategic deployment of central forces across various states, reliable sources revealed.
The meeting, scheduled for Friday, aims to deliberate on the operational aspects of deploying Central Armed Police Force personnel for the Lok Sabha elections, as well as the upcoming assembly polls. The Election Commission has reportedly requested approximately 3.4 lakh CAPF personnel to support the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
Furthermore, with an extensive electorate of nearly 97 crore voters, the Election Commission is anticipated to establish approximately 12.5 lakh polling stations throughout the nation.
