A woman in her 80s tragically passed away in a three-vehicle collision on the N17 in Galway. The incident occurred at 10am on Tuesday, with the elderly woman serving as a passenger in one of the cars involved. Two other individuals were also affected and were taken to University Hospital Galway for medical treatment.
The driver of the vehicle carrying the deceased woman, a woman in her 40s, was transported to the hospital as well. Fortunately, her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The driver of the second car, a woman in her 20s, escaped unharmed and was treated at the scene. However, the male driver of the van, aged in his 50s, suffered serious injuries and was also taken to University Hospital Galway.
In response to the collision, local authorities have closed the N17 at Milltown and implemented diversions to minimize disruptions. Forensic Collision Investigators are currently carrying out a technical examination of the scene to gather crucial information.
