An employee of the Education Department in Madhya Pradesh, Anil Goyal, has been booked under Section 306 of the IPC in connection with the suicide of Arjun Rajput. Rajput, who was posted as a peon at Manasa Block Resource Co-ordinator center, committed suicide by hanging himself on a gooseberry tree at the center. In his suicide note, he accused Goyal of not releasing his arrears amount of Rs 10 to 12 lakh, despite taking Rs 60,000 as a bribe. The police have been unable to locate Goyal, who had applied for medical leave after Rajput committed suicide.
The Madhya Pradesh State Education Center suspended Goyal following the incident. According to sources, Goyal had also applied for anticipatory bail, which was rejected. The police have requested the District Education Officer to issue an order for Goyal’s prosecution. On the police’s application, the DEO CK Sharma issued orders for Goyal’s suspension.
Rajput lived in Rampura village, and in his suicide note, he accused Goyal of mental torture. The Manasa police recovered the note, and in it, Rajput accused Goyal of not releasing his arrear amount as well as mental torture. The police registered the case and informed the DEO, who suspended Goyal from his position.
Goyal’s current whereabouts are unknown as he fled the village after applying for medical leave. The police believe that Goyal’s actions led to Rajput’s suicide and are working towards locating him.
