Ca Mau’s U Minh Ha National Park has received approval for an eco-tourism site project that aims to contribute to sustainable tourism and preserve the local cajuput forest ecosystem and biodiversity in the park. The Ca Mau provincial People’s Committee will invest nearly 1.46 trillion VND (61.4 million USD) into the project by 2030.
The project will encompass two functional subdivisions: administrative service and ecological restoration, covering a total area of over 1.3 hectares. The site will feature fauna and flora collections, herbal gardens, and various hospitality services. Additionally, tours will be developed to connect the site with other destinations in Ca Mau and adjacent provinces.
Located approximately 30 kilometers from Ca Mau city, U Minh Ha National Park spans over 8,250 hectares in Tran Van Thoi and U Minh districts. The park is renowned for its rich biodiversity, including 79 plant families, with cajuput being the most common, as well as 32 mammal and 74 bird species. Many of these species are included in the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
Recognized as one of the three wetland reserves in the Mekong Delta, U Minh Ha National Park is also among the three core zones of the Mui Ca Mau (Ca Mau Cape) World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. The park’s management board is responsible for preserving and restoring the natural landscape, ecological environment, and biodiversity of the wetland ecosystem. It also aims to conserve and develop genetic resources of precious plants and animals, cultural and spiritual values, and historical relics for scientific research, sightseeing, and tourism development purposes.
