An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale has hit Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir, India. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported that the earthquake occurred at around 8:36 am with a depth of 129 km.
According to the NCS, the epicenter of the earthquake was located at latitude 35.46 and longitude 73.32. The NCS tweeted, Earthquake of Magnitude:5.2, Occurred on 05-08-2023, 08:36:01 IST, Lat: 35.46 & Long: 73.32, Depth: 129 Km, Location: 184 km NNW of Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage caused by the earthquake. Further details regarding the tremor are still awaited.
In a separate earthquake incident, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands experienced a magnitude 4.3 tremor in the early hours of Thursday. The earthquake struck at 4:17 am with a depth of 61 km, as stated by the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
As of now, no significant damage or casualties have been reported in relation to this earthquake either.
