The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of five more days of intense downpour in Kerala. The monsoon arrived ahead of schedule, bringing isolated heavy rains to the state. A cyclonic circulation in the southeast Arabian Sea off south Kerala and strong westerly winds along the coast are expected to bring heavy to very heavy rain over the next five days. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also predicted. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea due to squally weather along the coast. Additionally, the state has seen a 40% excess in summer rain, with certain areas recording over 80% excess rainfall. Citizens are advised to stay safe and prepared during the intense weather conditions.
