Dubai Customs and Nakheel Properties Collaborate to Foster Innovation for Economic Growth
Dubai Customs, renowned for its steadfast commitment to supporting innovation and creativity in the UAE, recently played host to a delegation from Nakheel Properties at its Innovation Center. The primary objective of the visit was to provide Nakheel Properties with valuable insights into Dubai Customs’ experience in nurturing new ideas and driving forward innovation. The delegation from Nakheel Properties, consisting of representatives such as Hamdan Al Falasi, Hussein Khan Sahib, and Abdul Aleem Habous, were warmly received by Hussain Al Fardan, Head of the Innovation Center, and Amna Al Falasi, the Innovation Officer. During their visit, Al Fardan delivered an informative presentation outlining the remarkable journey of Dubai Customs in developing innovation. The department has successfully created and implemented 265 customs innovations, significantly easing trade, tourism, and travel processes, while fostering comprehensive and sustainable economic development across the UAE. These innovations have also bolstered Dubai Customs’ ability to protect society by implementing advanced and intelligent inspection systems to counter smuggling attempts effectively.
Dubai Customs’ dedication to innovation has not gone unnoticed, as the department has received a staggering 150 local, regional, and international awards. In a particularly noteworthy achievement, Dubai Customs became the first organization worldwide to attain the Platinum Ranking of the Ideas UK Awards for the 2021-2022 cycle. Additionally, the organization was honored as the first leading customs organization for global innovation in 2023, and it received recognition as the first leading organization for innovation at both the national and Middle Eastern levels in the same year. Moreover, Dubai Customs obtained the ISO for innovation in 2023.
