Driver Fatally Crushes Passenger for Objecting to Criticism of PM Modi and Yogi

A driver in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh is on the run after allegedly mowing down a passenger and crushing him to death because the latter raised objections over criticizing PM Narendra Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. The accused, Amzad, reportedly fled after committing the crime and is currently absconding. The deceased victim, Rajesh Dubey, was a resident of Kolahi village and had attended his nephew’s wedding with his brother in Mirzapur, where he took Amzad’s taxi on his way back. During their journey, the passengers got engaged in a political discussion where Amzad started aggressively criticizing PM Modi and Yogi. Dubey allegedly objected and the two got into a heated argument, with the other passengers intervening and pacifying them. When the passengers began leaving the vehicle one at a time, Rajesh was the only one left. Amzad reportedly stopped the car in the middle of the road and asked Rajesh to get down from the taxi. When Rajesh got down and was walking towards his house, Amzad allegedly rammed his speeding car into him, crushing him to death. The villagers who learned of the incident were enraged, blocking the Mirzapur-Prayagraj road and demanding action from the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police. The officials were eventually able to calm the people, promising strict action against the accused.
