On Tuesday, Investigation Discovery released a new trailer for its upcoming series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV in which multiple people are shown discussing Brian Peck’s sexual abuse conviction, a dialogue coach who worked on Nickelodeon’s All That and The Amanda Show. He was convicted in 2004 for sexual abuse against a minor. At the end of the trailer, after discussion about not knowing who Peck had abused, Bell steps into frame and sits in an interview chair.
People reported that Warner Bros. Discovery said in a press release, The clip reveals that former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell will be sharing publicly, for the first time, the story of abuse he suffered at the hands of Brian Peck, his former dialogue coach who was convicted in 2004 for his crimes against Drake and ordered to register as a sex offender.
Teen Vogue has reached out to a representative for Bell but has not heard back.
Peck was convicted on multiple charges of sexual abuse against an unnamed minor and sentenced to 16 months in prison for his crimes, according to Variety. A press release from the Los Angeles Police Department says that police began investigating Peck after the victim’s family reported that he had abused the minor over a six month period. At the time, the LAPD indicated that they suspected there may be additional victims of Peck who had yet to come forward. According to People, Bell was 15 when the alleged abuse occurred.
Quiet on Set, a four part series that will air on March 17 and 18, explores the allegedly toxic work environment on some children’s television shows, particularly those by Nickelodeon’s Dan Schneider, who was behind shows like iCarly and Zoey 101. (Schneider has previously denied this characterization. Teen Vogue has reached out to Schneider for comment.) Bell, who co-starred in the Nickelodeon show Drake and Josh, is one of many stars who will appear in the series. Cast and crew members from All That, iCarly, Sam & Cat, Victorious, Zooey 101, and more will appear.
