A St. Paul-based Mexican bakery, Don Panchos Bakery, will be expanding its operations to Rochester’s Kutzky Park neighborhood. The bakery owner, Estevan Perez, plans to open a Rochester location in a 2,000-square-foot space in the complex at 1610 West Center St. Along with the popular conchas, churros, and cakes, Perez aims to bring the authentic Mexican flavors and traditions to the Rochester community.

With over 25 years of experience operating in St. Paul, Don Panchos Bakery has garnered a loyal customer base, including many from Rochester. The growing demand from Rochester regulars led to the decision to open a bakery in the Med City in 2024. Perez is eager to share their delicious Mexican pastries, fresh bread, and memorable cakes with the residents of Rochester.

The new bakery is expected to have six to ten employees on staff and aims to become a beloved neighborhood spot, just like its Saint Paul counterpart. Don Panchos Bakery is not just a business venture, but a product of four generations of bakers from Morelos, Mexico. Their specialties include Mexican sweet bread such as conchas, pan de muerto, churros, pan fino, bolillos, and teleras for sandwiches. Additionally, they offer flan and tres leches cake, catering to the diverse tastes of their customers.

Perez expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to bring a piece of home to the families living in Rochester. Don Panchos Bakery intends to create a community space where people can pick up treats to start their day or share with friends and family. The cultural significance and traditions associated with their pastries are something Perez hopes to pass down to future generations.

Whether customers are looking for a quick pick-me-up of a concha and a cup of coffee or a box full of delicious treats to share, Don Panchos Bakery promises an enjoyable experience. Their dedication to quality, taste, and authenticity remains unwavering.

The opening of Don Panchos Bakery in Rochester signifies not just a new business venture, but a cultural exchange that brings the flavors and traditions of Mexico to the communities they serve. It is an opportunity to embrace diversity and the vibrant heritage that defines Rochester. As the end of January approaches, locals can eagerly anticipate the delight of indulging in Don Panchos’ Mexican pastries and baked goods.

Don Panchos Bakery is excited to welcome Rochester residents into their new space and hopes to become a beloved establishment in the community. The combination of their passion for baking, rich family history, and commitment to providing exceptional treats make Don Panchos Bakery a destination worth visiting in Rochester. As time goes on, they aim to continue delighting customers and fostering a sense of community through their delicious offerings.

With the upcoming opening of Don Panchos Bakery in Rochester, the residents of Kutzky Park neighborhood can look forward to experiencing the authentic taste of Mexico right in their backyard.
