South Boston Couple’s Italian Wedding at Risk as Dog Devours Passport
A South Boston couple’s dream destination wedding in Italy hangs in the balance after their beloved dog took a bite out of one of their passports. Donato Frattaroli and his fianceé Magda Mazri were left in a state of shock when they discovered that their golden retriever, Chickie, had chewed up several pages of Frattaroli’s passport just days before their wedding ceremony, which was scheduled for August 31.
Frattaroli, who returned home after a visit to city hall with Mazri to collect their marriage license, was faced with an unexpected predicament. I’m just a little stressed, he shared with WCVB in Boston. Thankfully, he reached out to Congressman Stephen Lynch’s office and Senator Ed Markey’s office for assistance. The representatives responded promptly and took action, liaising with the State Department to expedite the process of obtaining a new passport for Frattaroli.
Despite the setback, Frattaroli and Mazri are determined to make it to Italy for their wedding on Friday. The young couple had spent months meticulously planning their special day and were excited to celebrate their love in the picturesque Italian countryside. However, their mischievous 18-month-old pooch had other plans.
Chickie managed to chew up important pages of Frattaroli’s passport, including his personal information, picture page, and even the barcode on the back. Mazri explained, It was like every important page, completely torn up. Despite the damage caused by their furry friend, the couple remains forgiving and insists that Chickie is a very good dog who doesn’t typically destroy their belongings.
Frattaroli emphasized that resolving the passport issue is now in the hands of the State Department and the passport office. Their hope is that a replacement passport will be swiftly issued, allowing them to proceed with their wedding plans. Fortunately, there seems to be a glimmer of hope for the couple, as Frattaroli revealed that he had scheduled an appointment to collect a new passport from the Boston Passport Agency.
A mix of emotions, including stress and determination, fills the air as the couple awaits their passport resolution. Mazri adamantly stated, I’m not allowing myself to even think of Plan B. There’s no other option for me. Both Mazri and Frattaroli are resolute that they will make it to Italy on Friday, one way or another.
As the bride and groom-to-be anxiously wait for their passport situation to be resolved, they are grateful for the support they have received thus far. The love and dedication they have put into planning their perfect wedding have not been diminished by their doggy mishap. With their unwavering determination, this South Boston couple is ready to embark on their Italian adventure and say I do surrounded by the beauty of Italy’s enchanting landscapes.
